The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. “ (Psalm 28:7-8) Hazel Yvone Sanders earned her wings and transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on April 23, 2024, after a long illness. Hazel fought a long courageous battle before succumbing to her illness. Hazel was born on March 30, 1957, in Savannah Georgia. She grew up in Walterboro (Blue House), SC with her adopted parents Foloman and Beatrice Brown her aunt and uncle. Hazel was the joy of their life, and she was loved and cherished by them. Hazel was united in Holy Matrimony to Marion Sanders in 1986. Through this union Dishon Sanders was adopted by them. Hazel took care of Marion during his illness until his death. Hazel was a hard-working businesswoman; she managed her business after the passing of her husband Marion Sanders on her own. After many years of working, she decided it was time to retire and enjoy life. Hazel was a loving mother to Dishon (Sean) Sanders. Sean was her pride and joy; she lovingly and faithfully took care of Sean after he became ill until his death. Hazel loved making people laugh and always telling jokes. She was a very good
cook and enjoyed gardening, growing fruits and vegetables, fishing and cooking her catch of the day in her leisure time. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Crystal (Kit) Booker (Chesapeake Beach MD.), her nieces Lauren Daye (Odenton MD), Melody Dotson (Palm Coast FL), one nephew Brian Booker Daye (Chesapeake Beach MD), two aunts Cleo White (Beaufort SC), and Sarah Littlejohn (Beaufort SC), special cousins Janie and Daniel Walton (Beaufort SC) and many other cousins and friends. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Marion Sanders (Walterboro SC) her precious son Dishon Sanders (Walterboro SC). Her mother (Ethel Booker (Bowie Md.), brothers Ernen (Ernie) Mack Booker (Newark NJ), Raymond Booker (Brooklyn NY) and Bobby Lee Brown (Bronx NY), sister Sharon Booker (Elizabeth, NJ).
