Colleton County VFW Post Named #1 in South Carolina

Colleton County VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 12102 was named number one in the South Carolina Department in membership with about 123%. At the last meeting Past Department Commander Jim Fox presented Commander Marc Jacob with a plaque and the post with a trophy for being Number 1 in the South Carolina Department.

The Post was also named an All-State Post. Commander Jacob and Quartermaster David Lies received a plaque at the Department Convention, and both were presented with checks in lieu of All-State Caps. To be named All-State, the post had to maintain a minimum of 102% membership, preform community service in the community, serve the veterans in our community, recognize students via the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pens scholarships, and other requirements.

At the VFW National Convention, the Post was named All-American. Since the Post was in the top 25% in the nation, The Post Commander was able to receive the award from the National Commander-in-Chief. To be named All-American the Post had to meet the requirements for All-State and other requirements.

Commander Jacob also received a Certificate of Participation for the Post support of the American Legion Palmetto Boys and Girls programs from American Legion Commander, Jeffrey Jones.

The Auxiliary received six awards at the Department Convention, including 2nd place in Department for Scholarship, Membership, Mentoring for Leadership, Extension Revitalization, and Buddy Poppy and 3rd place in the Department for Historian Media Relations.
