Chief Master Sergeant James “Emory” Edwards, USAF, (Ret), passed away on August 21, 2024, at the age of 61 at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC. Born on March 14, 1963, in Charlotte, NC, he was the beloved son of the late John C. “Jack” Edwards, Jr. and the late Joanne Emory Edwards. Emory’s distinguished military career spanned 29 years, honorably serving in the United States Air Force from 1983 to 1992 and continuing with the Wyoming Air National Guard until his retirement in 2012. In addition, he was dedicated to his civilian career as the Electrical Foreman at F. E. Warren AFB, WY, where he was respected for his leadership and deployed as an electrical inspector to Afghanistan, retiring in 2017. He faced his battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease with courage and resilience, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and a deep compassion for others. Emory’s remarkable contributions to his country and his unwavering dedication to his family will be deeply missed. Emory is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon Nicholson Edwards, his five children: his daughter Alyssa Edwards of Seattle, WA; his son Jacob Edwards and wife Laura, along with their son Amos, of Crestview, FL; his daughter Victoria Edwards of Daytona Beach, FL; his daughter Eryn Edwards of New York, NY; and his son James Edwards of Bonaire, GA. He is also survived by his siblings: his sisters Libby Jackson and her husband Gary of Charlotte, NC; Julie Jones and her husband Lionel of Charlotte, NC; and his brother John Edwards III of Lancaster, SC. A service to honor Emory’s life and legacy is being planned for a later date. Arrangements By: The Brice W.
