Mr. Adrian Ernest Bishop, 71, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, August 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his residences while under the care of Amedisys Hospice. Born July 3, 1953, while his father was stationed in Peterborough, England, he was a son of Mrs. Mavis Jennings Bishop and the late Mr. Ernest “Red” Bishop.  The Bishop family name has been synonymous with logging and forest products for generations.  He began working alongside his fathers and brothers in the family logging business before eventually stepping out on his own and creating Bishop Forest Products, an enterprise he successfully operated for many years.  He was recognized as the regional “Outstanding Logger of the Year” and as the National “Outstanding Logger of the Year” by his peers.     He was a lifelong member of Grace Advent Christian Church in Walterboro, where he formerly served as a Deacon and President of the Men’s Fellowship.   He also served as President of the Dogwood Hills Country Club.   Adrian was a friend to everyone he encountered, and he always possessed a smile that could light-up anyone’s day.  He was an excellent athlete and dearly loved tennis and golf as well as fishing. Surviving in addition to his mother of Walterboro are: his loving and devoted wife of fifty-two years, Mrs. Linda Blocker Bishop; two children, Andrea Bishop and Shelby Bishop (Sunny Spillane) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; a brother, Danny Bishop (Gayle) of Walterboro; and a sister, Bonnie Bishop Tracy (Wayne) of Walterboro.  There are five grandchildren whom he adored, Ellys Bishop, Adrian Kai Bishop, Eddie Spillane, Jasper Spillane and Emmy Gable; a brother-in-law, Tommie Blocker of Walterboro; a sister-in-law, Julie Maxey Bishop of Walterboro; and 11 nieces and nephews; as well as nineteen great nieces and nephews that also survive. Memorials may be directed in his memory to the following:  Grace Advent Christian Church Youth Fund, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, Amedisys Hospice, 305 Robertson Boulevard, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.  Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, August 6, 2024, from Grace Advent Christian Church, Walterboro.  The Reverend Wayne Lucas officiated.   Interment followed in the churchyard. Herndon And Sons Funeral Homes And Crematory, Walterboro Chapel, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina, 29488.  Visit the guestbook online at: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com
