WALTERBORO: Sandra Paulette Pye Zeigler passed away peacefully under hospice care early Sunday morning, November 26, 2023. She was 75.
Paulette was born in Colleton County December 22, 1948 a daughter of the late Pascal Paul Pye Sr. and Marion Polk Pye. She graduated from Walterboro High School in 1967, and spent her working career as a bookkeeper and accountant in the banking industry, and for Farm Bureau and Dayco in Walterboro, before eventually retiring from the payroll department at Midlands Technical College.
Paulette followed in her mother’s footsteps as an excellent seamstress and a wonderful southern cook who loved to can fruits and jellies. She was also known for her delicious fruitcakes. She had attended Edgewood Baptist Church, and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly.
Paulette is survived by her two sons, Steve Bilka (Judy) and Larry Bilka (Vicki). She has a granddaughter, Ashley Seley (Andrew) and children Lila and Violet, and she has two step-grandsons, Marcus Koth (Brandy) and children Brooke and Morgan, and Richard Owen III, and son Vance. Paulette leave behind her siblings JoAnna Herndon, Paul Pye (Fran) and Beth Murdaugh (Mark). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-great grandson Drew Owen IV.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, November 29, 2023 at 3:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 the day of the service at the funeral home, located at 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.
