WALTERBORO:     Glen Earl Craven Sr., husband of Suzanne “Suze” Johnson Hickman, passed away at his home under hospice care Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2024.  He was 64. Earl was born February 25, 1960 in Canadys a son of the late Monie and Louise Strobel Craven.  For many years he worked as an electrical contractor, and also owned and operated R & R Meats.  He eventually opened Craven’s Deer Processing…a service well known to hunters throughout the Lowcountry.  Earl was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, as well as riding four wheelers.  His favorite times were spent farming, camping, and being at the Edisto River. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Glenn Craven (Emily), and by his sisters Ethel C. Erwin (Hubert) and Lynn C. Crosby (Paul), all of Walterboro.  There is a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.  In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his sisters Frankie Craven and Carol C. Mixson (Jim E.) and by two nephews, Hubie Erwin and Kevin Mixson.  He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild when he passed away. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2024 at 2:00 at Bethel Baptist Church on Sidneys Road in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
