WALTERBORO:     Mr. Henry Marshall Ulmer Sr., husband of Frances Mosley Ulmer, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, March 10, 2024 at his home in Walterboro under hospice care, with his family by his side.  He was 83. Mr. Ulmer was born in Ruffin May 19, 1940 a son of the late Lawson “P.L.” Ulmer and Catherine Inez Breland Ulmer.  He was a retired employee of General Electric Telephone Company, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro.  He was actively involved with the outreach program “Nails in Hand”, which constructed handicapped ramps at homes throughout the area.  Mr. Ulmer was an automobile and “hot rod” enthusiast and could often be seen cruising through town in his classic truck.  He was an avid fan of NASCAR and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He could often be found supporting his grandchildren in their educational and athletic endeavors, and cherished the time spent with his wife growing roses in their yard and going on “coffee dates”.  He will truly be missed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children:  Terri Blackwell, Tammy Salter (David), Billy Ulmer, Henry “Buddy” Ulmer Jr., Tracy McDonald (Tryon), Wendy Bryan (William) and “Little Man” Cole.  There are ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Ulmer was preceded in death by his sisters Betty, Carolyn and Millie.   In accordance with Mr. Ulmer’s wishes, the family will hold a private graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Colleton Preparatory Academy.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
