Mr. Thomas Cooper “Tommy” Jones, 71, of Walterboro, entered into rest Monday evening, May 31, 2021, at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Born May 18, 1950, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Raymond Neal Jones, Sr. and the late Emmadell Hiott Jones.   Tommy was a walking encyclopedia of the General Motors Parts Manual and his knowledge on vehicles was highly sought after.  He worked for many years with Rizer Chevrolet in Walterboro before transitioning and eventually retiring from Bilton Chevrolet in Saint George.  He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Walterboro where he had served as a Deacon.  He loved and enjoyed cars of all makes and models and was a fan of Nascar Motor Sports.   His children were his proudest accomplishment and his grandchildren who knew him as “Ta” were his heart.

Surviving are: his wife of forty-nine years, Mrs. Debbie Byrd Jones; three children, Thomas C. “Tom” Jones, Jr. of Athens, Georgia, Rusty Jones of Walterboro, and Dee Jones Rhode and her husband Chad of Cottageville; a sister, Marjorie Moody and her husband Jim of Summerville; and four grandchildren, Ethan Jones (Miriam), Makayla Jones, Sabrina Jones, and Luke Jones. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Louise Iriel Jones; a brother, Raymond Neal Jones, Jr.; and a step-mother, Joyce Nix Jones.

The family is especially thankful to his devoted and longtime caregiver, Mrs. Annette Brown as well as Amedisys Home Health Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
