William Madison Smyer, III, 77, of Edisto Island, passed away, Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at MUSC. Born August 1, 1946, in Chester, he was a son of the late William Madison Smyer, Jr. and Willie Frances Davis Smyer. He was a retired Quality Assurance Engineer with the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Surviving are: his wife, Patti Ruff Smyer; children, William M. Smyer, IV, Robert C. Smyer, and Michelle E. Smyer; and nephews, Rhett Cathcart and Eric Cathcart. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Cathcart-Pusser. A memorial service will be held 1pm, Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Edisto Island United Methodist Church, 8193 Palmetto Road, Edisto Island. Arrangements By: The Brice W.
