Mrs. Loriann Carol Thomas Smoak, 62, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday afternoon, August 18, 2023, at Summerville Community Hospice House.  She was the wife of the late Delbert Wayne Smoak, to whom she was married 39 years. Born August 13, 1961, in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Neil Thomas and Carol Leyshaun Thomas.  She taught school for many years at North Walterboro Christian Academy.  She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and loved her church and church family.  She dedicated her life to her family. She was the definition of a “Mema”.  Her grandchildren were her world.  She enjoyed picking them up from school in her beloved blue van, playing cards and board games with them, having “date days” with each of them, going to the movies, getting them treats, and baking with them.  She also enjoyed going on camping trips with her family.  Surviving are: her children, Matthew Wayne Smoak, Sr. (Dianne) of Walterboro and Andrew Thomas Smoak (Hannah) of Walterboro; grandchildren, Shannon Nicole Smoak, Matthew Wayne “M.J.” Smoak, Jr., Connor Ray Smoak, and Roman Michael Smoak; sister, Bonnie Pearson and her husband Jimmy of Buffalo; brother, Neil Thomas of Goose Creek; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Thomas. Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 2 pm in the church sanctuary. Arrangements By: The Brice W.
