Mrs. Sherry Rhode Carter, 51, of Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, August 4, 2021 at her residence.
Born September 24, 1969 in Charleston, she was a daughter of Bobby G. Rhode and Barbara McMillan Rhode. She was a lifelong member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, where she had served as church clerk and served as the head of the Sunshine Ministry. She loved flowers and took pride in making sure her yards and home were decorated adequately for the appropriate season. Sherry loved people, loved life and will always be remembered for her giving spirit. Sherry brought joy and laughter anywhere she went, but her greatest joy in life was her family and being a stay at home “Grandie”.
Surviving are: her husband of 23 years, Mark Carter of Cottageville; her parents, Bobby and Barbara Rhode of Cottageville; her children, Amanda Carter Cromer and her husband Cole of Cottageville and Morgan Carter Thomas and her husband David of Walterboro; grandchildren, Macie Cromer, Miles Cromer and Carter Thomas; sister, Karen Rhode Lyons and her husband Shawn of Cottageville; sister-in-law, Terry C. Harriott and her husband Joe of Ruffin; brother-in-law, Steve Clough of Walterboro; aunts and uncles, Madison and Brenda McMillan, Thomas and Inez McMillan, Hazel and Frank Brabham; great uncle, James G. Rhode of Charleston; her bonus children, Kimberly O’Quinn and Tasha O’Quinn; and many cousins and extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, August 7, 2021 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment followed in Fox Cemetery, Wesley Grove Road, Cottageville.
