RUFFIN – Mr. Kennedy Edward “Ken” Phillips, Jr., 76, of Ruffin, entered into rest Friday afternoon, August 30, 2024, at his residence. He was the loving husband of the late Mrs. Allyson Tisdale Phillips. Born November 2, 1947, in Tilghman Island, Maryland, he was a son of the late Kennedy E. Phillips, Sr. and the late Mary Hause Phillips. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy, having retired after twenty-six years of honorable service and with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served during the Vietnam Era. After making South Carolina his home, he worked for a few years as a Boiler Room Supervisor at the former Walterboro Veneer. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Surviving are: a son, John Phillips and his wife Stephanie of Ruffin; a daughter, Constance Fulford of Dothan, Alabama; four grandchildren; Sherilyn Phillips, Betsy Altman, Cooper Bailey, and Johnathan Fulford; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Samuel and Margaret Fulford; and by his son-in-law, Roger Fulford. The family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to a veteran’s organization of one’s choice. Arrangements by: The Brice W.
