HENDERSONVILLE: Mr. Henry Allen Long passed away peacefully Thursday evening, June 29, 2023 at the Pruitt Healthcare Center in Walterboro at the age of 96. He was born on Parris Island March 4, 1927 a son of the late Charlie Oden Long and Bessie Irene Benton Long. Allen worked for many years at Thompson Five and Dime, and was also a retired serviceman with J.P. Stevens. He was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, and was well known throughout his community for his soft-spoke demeanor and his caring personality. He will truly be missed. He is survived by his sister, Bessie Ann Long Crews of Hendersonville, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews he loved dearly. Graveside services will be held Monday morning, July 3, 2023 at 10:00 at Stokes Cemetery in Hendersonville. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation immediately following the service in the social hall of Salem United Methodist Church. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
