Colleton and Dorchester County to Teach Water Safety

Posted

Splash into Safety utilizes a mobile swimming pool to teach water safety to children in both Dorchester and Colleton County. Life Guards and Swim Instructors participate in the program to teach children critical skills such as treading water, floating, recovery in case of falling into a body of water, and swim-float-swim. Children are instructed to always ask permission from an adult before entering the water. While Splash into Safety focuses on life-saving skills for children, the curriculum also engages parents in learning important skills to keep their children safe. Parents are taught CPR and asked to pledge to be “Water Watchers” to help reduce water emergencies.

In Colleton County the program will be held at the Walterboro Parks and Recreation Center at 280 Recreation Lane in Walterboro. The dates will be Monday July 8 until Friday July 12 for session 1 and Monday July 15 until Friday July 19 for session 2.

The Dorchester County program will take place at the St. George Middle School at 600 Minus Street in St George on Monday July 17 until Friday July 12 for Session 1. Session 2 will take place on Monday June24 until Friday June 28.

The program is by registration only and on a first come first serve basis and you can sign up across county lines. Call the Colleton County Recreation Center for more information at 843-538-3031.
