Mr. Cornell Goldsmith Fuller Johnson, known to everyone as “C.G.”, 76, of Walterboro, passed away at his residence on the morning of his 76th birthday, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, under the care of Pruitt Hospice.  C.G. was born January 17, 1948, in Columbia, and was the son of the late Richard Edgecomb Johnson and Elizabeth Mary Naylor Johnson. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps having served in Vietnam.  He loved the outdoors, hunting and especially loved dog hunting.  He was a member of Big Head Hunting Club. His smile was larger than life, always made everyone feel welcome and dearly loved his family.  He loved his Ford trucks and affectionately named one “Thunder”. Surviving are: his wife, Louise Nugent Johnson of Walterboro; children, Smitty Johnson of Walterboro, Barbara Russell Carelock of Walterboro, Dr. Anthony Russell and his husband Jack of Ventura, and Scott Johnson (Gina) of Walterboro; grandchildren, Amber Johnson, Landon Johnson, Robby Carelock, Riley Carelock, Reese Carelock, Sonora Russell-Garris, Preston Russell-Garris, Autumn Johnson and Austin Johnson; his pup, “Blue”; brothers-in-law, Joseph Nugent and his wife Yuki, David Nugent, and Daniel Nugent and his wife Egna; sister-in-law, Christian Nugent Leary and her husband Larry; as well as his nieces and nephews, Lacy Pulis and Ryan (children, Tanner and Walker), Tommy Murray and Heather (children, Ava and Hannah), Jessica Nugent (Carter), Augie Nugent, Aki Cloherty and Chris children, Johna, Emily, and Hannah), Danny Nugent and Karina (son, Gavin), Shawny Murray (children, Lexie and Karsyn); John Murray (children, Ashten and Jillian); Fred Nugent; John Patrick Nugent (son, Patrick and Cameron), Dina Byrnes and Paul (children, Alex and Nicholas), Heidi Urban and Michael (children, Daniel and Ashley), Ward Johnson and Debbie, Jeff Blizzard, and Bonnie Fuller.  He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Fredrick Nugent; sisters-in-law, Audrey Nugent Murray and her husband Thomas “Scooter” Murray, and Annette Nugent Pulis; and a nephew, Brian Pulis.
