Mr. Jimmy M. Murdaugh passed away Sunday afternoon, April 5, 2020 at the Bayview Manor in Beaufort.  He was 86.

Jimmy was born in Islandton, SC September 14, 1933 a son of the late Henry and Laura Rentz Murdaugh.  A lifelong welder by trade, for many years he was the owner and operator of "Jimmy's Welding".  He was a crane operator, and was also well-known for constructing metal buildings in the area, his last project being the fire station across from the sheriff's department on Mabel T. Willis Road.  When he wasn't working with metal, he was working the land he loved.  He enjoyed spending his free time on his tractor planting and harvesting his crops.

He is survived by his daughters:  Jamie Shearer (Jeremy), Kay Delatorre (Nick), Kathy Wenzel (Randy), Patricia Petty, and Karen Murdaugh.  He leaves behind grandchildren Emma and Abigail Shearer, and a sister Patsy Peeples (Bobby).  He was preceded in death by his siblings Wayne Murdaugh, Donald Murdaugh, and Lorraine Johnson.

In consideration of the state and national emergency that currently exists with the coronavirus pandemic, and with the health and well-being of their friends and community in mind, funeral services will be held privately.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street, Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
