A Cottageville home was destroyed in a mid-day fire on Mistletoe Lane Friday, November 9. There were reports of explosions from the residence. Cottageville Police Officers arrived at the scene first and felt the fire was suspicious in origin. They contacted the SLED (State Police) Arson Unit before Fire-Rescue arrived. Engine 9 arrived at the dead-end dirt road to find a singlewide mobile home behind another mobile home, approximately 70% involved. There was no one at home at the time and the residence had no power connected. Firefighters deployed 200 feet of hose line from the road to the backyard. Tenders provided water supply. Firefighters had the bulk of the fire knocked down in 20 minutes but were on the scene for 2 hours. Cottageville PD and SLED are investigating the cause of the fire.
