WALTERBORO:     Lori Sonya Hiott, wife of Donald Daugherty, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, March 14, 2024 at the Colleton Medical Center after a brief illness.  She was 56.

Lori was born in Charleston February 9, 1968 a daughter of the late Mary Lou Davis Hiott and Cecil Hiott.  She graduated in 1986 from John C. Calhoun Academy, and the attended Francis Marion University, where she received her degree in English in 1990.  She was a familiar face at the Colleton County Museum and Farmer’s Market, where she worked in the retail area, always greeting locals and tourists alike with a beautiful smile and a pleasant demeanor.  She was an avid fan of “The Young and the Restless” and was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Ethan Daugherty, and by her sisters Kimberly H. Utsey (Dan) and Cecilia H. Byrd (Steve).  She leaves behind her aunt Emily Levier, as well as a host of extended family and friends.  

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday morning, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
