Sharon Kay Raymond Hale, widow of Carroll Eugene Hale, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Pruitt Healthcare in Walterboro, SC.  She was 79. Sharon was born September 6, 1943, in Crookston, Minnesota. She was the daughter of the late Robert Norman Raymond, and Josephine Marie Schipper Raymond. In earlier years, she worked at Dayco Manufacturing Plant, was a server at Howard Johnsons Restaurant, and Western Sizzlin, all in Walterboro. In later years, she served doing daycare in her home for several children. Sharon and Carroll were married on December 16, 1961. Carroll passed away on November 15, 2016, a month before their 55th wedding anniversary. Sharon is survived by five children: Steven Hale, of Varnville, Sandra “Sandy” Hale Walling (Chuck) of Ruffin, Michael Hale (Jeff) of Reidsville, Georgia, Jeffery Hale (Kymberly) of Columbia, and Stacy Hale Sonnenberg (Lawrence) of Walterboro. There are seven grandchildren: Matthew Walling, Kirby Walling, Kristina Hale Rudolph, J. D. Hale, Logan Hale, Justin Byrd, and Holly Ganyer. There are five great grandchildren: Justin Byrd Jr, Kensen Byrd, Hunter Ganyer, Anthony Noah Jerideau and Kassandra Rudolph. Sharon has two sisters, Bonnie Cawley (Marv) of Myrtle Beach, and Jill McKay (David) of Lake Stevens, Washington, and one brother, Randy Raymond (Pam) of Arlington, Washington. She is preceded in death by a sister, Carol Raymond Hale Bruins, and brothers, Rick, Ronald, and Roger Raymond. She has several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sharon was very much devoted to her children and family, especially in celebrating holidays and family gatherings together. The family will receive friends at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home on Sunday, July 16, from 5:00 – 7:00PM, 117 Paul Street, Walterboro, SC. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, on Monday, July 17, at 10:00AM.   Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Hwy. 17-A S, Walterboro, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Carroll.
