James Michael Eberhardt passed away early Friday morning, December 8, 2023, at his home in Yemassee under Hospice care. He was eighty years old.
Jim was born in Greenville, SC on April 4, 1943 to the late James Vasco and Gladys Anderson Eberhardt. He graduated from Carolina High School in Greenville, SC and then attended Wofford College in Spartanburg. He began his career in construction at a very young age beside his grandfather. He worked for several construction companies including building Bi-Lo grocery stores all throughout the southeast. He ended his career with his own trim carpentry business working on homes all over South Carolina. He loved working with his hands and could tell you how to build anything. He retired to care for the love of his life, his beloved wife, Enid.
Jim and Enid were high school sweethearts and married in 1965 in Greenville, SC. They moved to Beaufort, SC in 1972 and finally settled in Yemassee were they lived the rest of their life. They enjoyed watching their children grow and have families of their own. Jim was known to his grandchildren and several others as "Pops" and he loved them all with all his heart. They joined Salem United Methodist Church when they moved to Yemassee where Jim enjoyed singing in the choir and spending time with his church family. Jim loved to sing and always enjoyed singing for weddings.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Enid Eberhardt, his parents Mr. and Mrs. James Vasco Eberhardt.
He is survived by his children, Melanie (Brian) Bagwell of Darlington, Brian David (Eve) Eberhardt of Hendersonville, Maria (Brandon) Cook of Yemassee and his grandchildren Matthew Fowler, James and Will Bagwell, Madeline, Natalie and Tallulah Cook and Rylee, Caleb and Zachary Chandler. He also leaves behind his sisters Peggy (Jim) Brady of Spartanburg and Judy Thackston of Gray Court, his sister-in-law, Linda (Sam) Floyd of Mauldin and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service held at Salem United Methodist Church in Walterboro, SC on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 4:00 pm. The family will greet friends before the service in the fellowship hall in the church from 3:00-4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorials be made to Salem United Methodist Church of Hendersonville or Agape Hospice, 4 Grober Hill Road, Beaufort, SC 29902.
