Mr. Robert Lee Doctor, the third son of six siblings to the late Mr. Lucus Doctor and Lucile Bouie Doctor was born on February 14, 1948, in Walterboro, South Carolina.
Robert was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. When attending school, he drove a school bus. Robert enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his youth, he farmed with his father and brothers.
In February of 1967, he was joined in holy matrimony to Virginia Riggins. They have no children from this union.
In addition, his parents, he was proceeded in death by this older brother Mr. Calvin Doctor.
In November of 1967, he was drafted into the United States Army. He was wounded in Vietnam and honorably discharged in November of 1969. He received the Purple Heart, The Nation Defense Service Metal with the Bronze Star; Vietnam Campaign Metal with device 1965 and the Combat Infantry Man's Badge.
Later in life, he was employed by The Williams Trucking Company as a truck driver. He worked until he had to leave in 2006 because of his wife's illness. He took care of his wife until death.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving wife of 56 years, Mrs. Virginia R. Doctor, four brothers, Mr. Leroy Doctor (Harriett) of Walterboro, SC, Mr. Retired Chief E-9 Chesley B. Doctor (Gloria) of Virginia, Mr. Madison Doctor (Valerie) of Columbia, SC and Mr. Micheal Doctor of Tampa, Fla. Three sisters-in-laws Ms. Linda R. Glover, Ms. Julia Mae Riggins and Ms. Jacqueline Doctor, One Brother-in-law Mr. Vincent Riggins, host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews’ other relatives and friends.
