WALTERBORO: Mrs. Shirley Jane Dunn Davenport, wife of the late Pelham Franklin “Frank” Davenport, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, December 3, 2023 in Dandridge, Tennessee. She was 85.
Shirley was born in Johnson City, Tennessee March 25, 1938 a daughter of the late Orville Smith and Ida Mae Laws Dunn-Grahame. She was a homemaker, a proud wife, mother and “Nanu”, and was a member of Zion Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. At the time of his passing in 2011, she and Frank had been happily married for 56 years.
She is survived by her children: Danny Franklin Davenport (Teresa), and Jack Davenport of Walterboro, Pamela Roxanne Davenport Hill (Ronald) of Dandridge, TN, and Jennifer Maxine Davenport of Marietta, GA. There are seven grandchildren: Catrina Davenport O’Quinn (Scott), Celina Davenport, Bill Carter (Melissa), Heather Davenport Robinson (Jermaine), Ashley Carter McKemie, Brennen Johnston and Christy Catterton. Shirley leaves behind fifteen great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren that she loved dearly. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers James and Robert Dunn.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday morning, December 9, 2023 at 10:00 at Glendale Memorial Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
