On June 3, 2026, at approximately 10:06 pm, Colleton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to gunshots in the area of Grayson Street in Walterboro, SC. As deputies and Colleton County Fire-Rescue were on the way to the gunshots call, another call was received by HCA Healthcare (Colleton Medical Center) in reference to a gunshot victim being brought to the emergency department by personal vehicle. The victim, a 36 year old adult male, suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen and was life-flighted to an area trauma hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
During the investigation, it was learned from witnesses at the scene that this was a targeted-single incident. Persons of interest have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
As of the time of this publication, the victim remains hospitalized, and detective are working on some active leads.
