Walterboro Rotary Club Ireland Creek Bridge Run

Posted

The Walterboro Rotary Club held its annual Ireland Creek Bridge Run on Thursday, October 23, 2026, at 6:00 pm. The run is a one-mile timed loop around West Washington Street Bridge and  Forest Hills Road Bridge in downtown Walterboro along Ireland Creek.

This year’s event raised over $ 4,000 to support Rotary International efforts, our local First Steps program, and a  scholarship for USC-Salkehatchie. Each race participant received a towel and chicken bog  dinner following the race. The Walterboro Rotary would like to thank all participants and  sponsors who helped make this year’s event a great success.

Rotary International is recognized as the world’s first volunteer service organization. Their motto  is “Service Above Self”. The Walterboro Rotary Club has existed for almost 80 years. The Club  supports the eradication of polio and provides clean water on an international level. Alzheimer’s  research is a priority as a District project, and locally the Club funds a scholarship as well as  many other community projects. The club meets each Wednesday of the month at the Farmers  Colleton Farmer’s Market and Kitchen at 12:00 pm.
