Colleton County School District is pleased to announce that Dr. Cordelia Jenkins has been named Interim Assistant Superintendent of Academics & Student Affairs. Dr. Jenkins will be leading the District in this role following Dr. Sharon Baddick’s recent departure from the District to assume an educational leadership position in Pennsylvania. Dr. Jenkins has devoted over 25 years to serving students and the Colleton County community in various roles, including teacher, assistant principal, principal, and her recent position as the Director of Student Services at Colleton County School District. Notable accomplishments during her tenure as principal at Bells Elementary School include achieving Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 2010 and receiving an A rating in the ESEA/Federal Accountability System in the 2011-2012 school year. Additionally, while serving as principal at Ruffin Middle School during the 2011-2012 academic year, the school was honored with the distinguished South Carolina Palmetto Silver Award, reflecting Dr. Jenkins’ leadership skills and the positive impact on the schools.
Dr. Cordelia G. Jenkins is a native of Smoaks, SC. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at the College of Charleston; Masters in Educational Leadership and EDS as Specialist in Education-Superintendency from The Citadel in Charleston; and Doctorate of Philosophy in Education from Capella University, Minnesota, with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Jenkins draws inspiration from her favorite quote by Emily Dickinson, “We never know how high we are till we are called to rise; and then if we are true to the plan, our statures touch the skies.”
