Mrs. Cassie Woolard Marcom, wife of the late James Leonard Marcom, passed away Friday August 6, 2021 at the Piedmont Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. She was 90.
Mrs. Marcom was born November 14, 1930 in Willow Springs, NC, a daughter of the late David Henry Woolard and Novie Ashworth Woolard. She spent most of her adult life in Cary, NC and was a retired teacher’s assistant with the Wake County Public School System. She was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and assisted with VBS and WMU. She loved to cook, bake, decorate cakes, craft, sew and work in her garden. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Marcom is survived by a son, Ricky Marcom (Lynn), a sister Diane Street (Steve), grandchildren Elizabeth Felmet (Colin), Heaven Rucken (Yati), great grandchildren Lucy and Brack Felment and several step- grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a son-in-law Ray Earp, a brother-in-law Ronnie Womack, a sister-in-law Nancy Woolard, by extended family in Kinston, NC, and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Elaine Earp,by brothers Henry, J. D. and Fletcher Woolard, and by a sister Barbara Jean Womack.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday August 21, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fuquay Varina, NC. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice, but if desired, flowers may be ordered from Dewars Florist in Holly Springs, NC. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
