Jeffrey Leon Burkett, 62 of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Jeff was born October 25, 1960 in Seneca, SC to Vernon Leon and Joyce Ellenburg Burkett.
Surviving are his father V. Leon Burkett (and special friend Mertie Honea), his wife Kay B. Burkett, his daughters Dr. Brenna N. Burkett, J. Brandy Burkett and Brittany D. Burkett, his brother-in-law David Beals (Vicky); his uncle Joe Burkett, his aunt Wilma Burkett along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother Joyce E. Burkett, his mother-in-law Dorothy F. Gregory, his paternal grandparents Edward and Annie Kerr Burkett, his maternal grandparents Frank and Beulah Ables Ellenburg, along with a host of aunts and uncles.
Jeff did not know a stranger and used his “gift of gab” in both his personal and professional life. Having achieved thirty years of service with Orkin (Bluffton, SC) in January 2023, he received the President’s Club Award several times, most recently in 2021. Also, the SC Region Home Inspector of the Year in 2020 and 2021. He was a member of BNI (Business Networking International) and received numerous performance awards.
