Mr. Jeffrey Hugh Benson, 58, of Anderson, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, July 15, 2023, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Born December 29, 1964, in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a son of Mr. Etheridge T. “Buzz” Benson and the late Mrs. Etta Martin Benson.  Jeff received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Francis Marion University and worked a successful career in the health and environmental control industry.  Raised in Bethel United Methodist Church in downtown Walterboro, Jeff was an avid USC Gamecock and Atlanta Braves fan. Jeff was an avid sports fan his entire life and enjoyed playing golf and fishing.  One of his prize possessions was the flag from #8 at Oak Forest Country Club for his hole in one, which he accomplished in front of two of his boys.  Throughout his career he was recognized and considered one of the best salespeople in the industry.  His four boys were the most important thing throughout his adult life.  Very rarely would you hear Jeff speak without something about his boys being mentioned.  His sweet Elle “Green Eyes”, who was by his side from the beginning of his health issues, has been the rock for Jeff and the entire Benson family.  Jeff held all of us dearly to his heart and protected us all until he was unable to do it any longer. Surviving in addition to his parents, Buzz and Johnnie Benson of Edisto are: four sons, Taylor Benson (Lucy), Riley Benson, Sullivan Benson, and Madison Benson; his longtime companion and friend, Laura “Elle” Hildebrand, her sons, Chris Dandridge and Matt Hildebrand and her parents, Donald and Mary Eason; three siblings, Tim Benson and his children, Chase and Rachel, Vicki Ray and her husband David and their children, Tristen and Jordan (Kayla), and Chris Brownlee and his wife Ashley and his children, Caroline and Jenkins. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to the following: The American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 6704, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741; or to, Bethel United Methodist Church, 355 Hampton Street, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, July 22, 2023, from Bethel United Methodist Church, 355 Hampton Street, Walterboro.   The family will receive guests following the service.
