Miss Alexus Mackenzie Braxton Hughes, a free-spirted young lady known as “Lex”, age 19, entered into rest Tuesday afternoon, June 23, 2020, as a result of injuries sustained during an automobile accident in Colleton County.

Born December 6, 2000, she was a daughter of Micah Timothy Hughes and Theresa Michelle Thomas Ammons.   Lex loved her siblings and cared about others, making sure her friends knew that they were important to her.  She lived life to the fullest each day, always speaking her mind.  Her love and her compassion were no secret.   Like most her age, she was a jokester, enjoyed traveling, being at the beach and loved animals.   She has left a huge void that no amount of time will ever be able to fill.

Surviving are: her father, Micah of Round O; her mother, Michelle and her husband David of Walterboro; three brothers, Ethan Ulmer, Cody Ulmer, and Austin Hadwin; two sisters, Mallory Hughes and Jaycee Herndon; grandparents, Kenny and Donna Thomas, Sherri and Don Crosby, and Nancy Warren; great grandparents, Kathleen and Buddy Groves, Ryan Pellum, and Pauline Benton; two uncles, Trevor Groves and Stephen Kooy; step-sisters and step-brother, Katelyn Herndon, Samantha Hill, Hannah Ammons, Aleaha Ammons, and Lakyn Ammons; and serval cousins as well as a large extended family whom she loved.   She was preceded in death by a grandfathers, Timothy Hughes and Ronald Groves. 

Funeral services will be conduced 6 o’clock Friday evening, June 26, 2020, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   The Reverend Cheri Yates officiating.   The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral ceremony.
