Mr. Elbert Odell Winfield was born July 17, 1945 to Mr. Elbert Douglas Winfield and Charlie Mae Dukes at the Walterboro Air Force Base. He received his education at the Public School of Colleton County. He was a graduate of the Class of 1964 Colleton County High School Wolverines. Mr. Elbert Winfield moved to Delaware and later relocated to the Big City of New York where he worked as a furniture finisher and filing files at the Social Security Administration.  Mr. Winfield was drafted into the United States Army where he served as Sergeant in the Vietnam Airborne 9th Infantry and would lead his crew through the jungle having Boo Boo traps. He was the best. On July 8th his Crew was attacked and Mr. Winfield was hit. God healed his body and upon healing he went back to serve a second tour to keep his brother Mr. Frederick Blue from being drafted. Education: Denmark Technical College where he received an Associate Degree in Carpentry & Electricity September 21. Medals: He received the National Defense Medal, Silver Star, two Overseas Service Bars, Army Commendation Medal Device, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart Expert Rifle Sharpshooter.
