On August 15th 2023, at approximately 10:45 PM, officers with Walterboro Police Department were dispatched to 104 Robertson Blvd. (Barrel House Grille) in reference to a female sustaining a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Through the statements provided by witnesses and evidence collected on scene, the suspects have been identified as Marvis Jermaine Williams (43) and Tameka Suewanna Carter (46). Both have been charged with homicide and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Carter has surrendered herself to law enforcement while Williams currently remains at large.
The incident appears to stem from an argument that occurred on the night of August 15th, 2023 inside the Barrel House Grille. The parties involved exited the establishment, but the argument continued in the parking lot. The suspects then fired a single gunshot while seated in their vehicle striking the victim as she stood in the parking lot.
