Mr. James Carroll Sturkie, 90, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, May 29, 2023, at the Veteran’s Victory House. He was first married to the late Dorothy Floyd Sturkie and secondly to the late Betty Williamson  Sturkie. Born February 26, 1933,  in Swansea, South Carolina, he was a son of the late John C. Sturkie and Vesta Mae Jeffcoat Sturkie. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. He served aboard the USS Boyd and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon (Two Stars), China Service Medal, United Nation Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal. He retired from the US Naval Base Supply Center as a supervisor.  Surviving are: his son, James Carroll Sturkie, Jr. and his wife Mary of Mount Pleasant; two step-daughters, Jeannie Evans and Barbara Frye; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his step-children, Robert V. Loostrom and Patricia Sheppard.  Arrangements By: The Brice W.
