Ms. Nell Vivian Crosby Nathan, 97, of Ruffin, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, June 12, 2023, at her residence.

Born September 1, 1925, in Ruffin, she was a daughter of the late David Vivian Crosby and Lois Hutson Crosby.  Ms. Nell was a devoted mother and made raising her children her main focus.  Before her children were born she worked at Walterboro Dress Plant as a seamstress and then when her children were older, she became a driver for the Senior Citizens bus delivering meals and whatever else needed to be done.  She was a faithful member of Doctors Creek Baptist Church, where she enjoyed helping in any area that she could and received Perfect Attendance for over 15 years.  She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and rocking on the front porch.  Most of all, Ms. Nell loved her family.  She loved her children, loved her son-in-law and daughter-in-law as her own, cherished the time she spent with her only grandson, and loved being with her sister and nieces.

Surviving are: her children, Diane and Bill Polk of Ruffin, and Todd and Marlene Nathan of Ruffin; grandson, Chad Nathan of Ruffin; sister, Mildred Crosby Greene of Ruffin; nieces, Janet Greene Laney (Jeff) and Stephanie Greene Bunton (Johnny); and 4 great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Willie Austin Nathan; two infant sons, Larry Anthony Nathan and William David Nathan; and her brother-in-law, John B. Greene.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Doctors Creek Baptist Church, Post Office Box 2, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services were held 11 o’clock, Thursday morning, June 15, 2023 at Doctors Creek Baptist Church, 126 Doctors Creek Road, Walterboro.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 am in the church sanctuary.
