My prayer for Colleton County

Posted

Pastor Tony Jones of Faith Baptist Church and his sons, Isaiah and Gideon, prayed for our county and the country on Sunday in front of the Colleton County Courthouse. Because of fear of the spread of the virus, no one was there to hear his prayer — except God.

His prayer follows:

The Bible says, in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

We are here to pray today that God will heal our land.

“Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, we come before You today and we ask you Lord, to have mercy on us. We pray that You will help us, Lord, as your people, that we would look in Your direction. You said if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves … Lord, we have lived haughty and proud, we have lived selfishly. We have lived for ourselves in convenient Christianity, for way too long! We pray, dear God, that You would help our leaders, that You would soften their hearts towards You.

We pray, Oh God, that You would take our people in this community, and that God, You would turn our heart towards You. Help us to humble ourselves, and to pray. Lord, forgive us of our sins. Forgive us Lord, for where we have failed You. Forgive us Lord, for living life our way and calling it right.

I pray that You would forgive us Lord for living a fake Christian life. I pray God, that You would help us to live according to the Word of God! I pray that You would help us Lord. You said if we would humble ourselves and pray and seek Your face … Lord, we only want to please You! We want You to be favorable on us again. Lord, we pray that You would help us, that we would rely on You and that Lord, our lives will be given for Your Cause and for Your Honor and Glory!

We pray that You would bless our president and our governor and Lord, our county council members, our county administrator, our mayor, and our city council. We pray God that You will bless our sheriff, the Sheriff’s Office, and the chief of police and those of our emergency responders.

Lord, our citizens in this community, we need God … We pray in Jesus’ Name that You would turn our hearts towards You. We pray and seek Your Face, and now, we turn from our wicked ways.

Lord, we have allowed sin in our community. We have allowed things and turned a blind eye to it, Lord. I pray that You will help Christians to stand for what is right. I pray for our leaders to be humble, and to make laws, Lord, that would honor You. I pray that You would rid our community of sin and selfishness, and help us Lord to be humble before God and to cry out to You, and to seek Your face. Lord, that You might look favorably upon us again.

We pray that You would heal our land. Lord, our community is sick, sin sick! This disease is running rampant in our nation and we pray dear God, in Jesus’ Name, that You would help our country. That You would heal our country … Lord, I pray that You would remove this Corona virus and Lord that You would heal us! Not just physically, but spiritually — You would turn our hearts to You, that we might be whole. That we might honor You and serve You, from this day forward. May this be a turning point for Colleton County and Walterboro. We pray in Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name, Amen”

Psalm 103:1-3

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and has given Himself to be your personal Saviour. Jesus died in your place, paying for all your sins. He died, was buried, and rose from the dead to prove that He is God’s Son and will be your Lord and Saviour, if you will turn to Him and by faith believe on Him. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to save your soul. Turn your life over to Him and believe that He alone can and will save you today!
