A 24 yr. old Ladson man died in a single vehicle accident near Longleaf Drive, on August 17th. The Toyota Corolla was traveling south on at a high rate of speed, when it dropped off the southbound shoulder near Longleaf Drive. The driver, Jose’ Guadalupe Martinez overcorrected and lost control. The vehicle crossed over four lanes before entering the northbound ditch and began to slide sideways. It then then struck a culvert pipe and flipped over as it collided with a power pole roof first. The impact broke the pole, the car continued to roll and struck several trees receiving heavy damage. The unrestrained driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics found the driver unconscious inside the car with no signs of life. The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. SC Highway Patrol is investigating. Sheriff’s Deputies and Walterboro Police assisted with traffic control.
