Big dreams and even bigger heart: that’s how you describe Kobe Ford, a 4th grader at Forest Hills Elementary in Colleton County.
This year marked the first time Forest Hills Elementary Boys & Girls Club competed in the 2026 Youth of the Year program, and Kobe made sure we came home with a trophy. Competing against talented youth from across the region, Kobe represented Forest Hills with confidence, character, and leadership beyond his years.
The Youth of the Year program recognizes outstanding young people for their service, academic excellence, and commitment to healthy lifestyles. For Kobe to earn this honor in our club’s debut year makes it even sweeter.
“I’m so proud of Kobe and all the youth at Forest Hills Elementary. They’re truly amazing, and this is just the kickoff to a game-changing journey for the young people of Colleton County with more great adventures and memories to come. Together, we celebrate Kobe and this incredible achievement. His success reflects the power of a community that shows up, supports, and believes in its young people. This achievement isn’t just Kobe’s
—it belongs to every young person who showed up, worked hard, and believed.
“Here’s to many more milestones ahead,” said Latosia Simmons. “Thank you Kobe for all your outside service hours and extra mile you go for the Boys and Girls Club here at Forest Hills Elementary. We are so proud of you,” said Erica Grant Site Director and all the staff at Forest Hills Elementary.
