Mr. Hubert DeWitt, 80, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, June 21, 2023 at his residence.

Born February 19, 1943 in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Clint DeWitt and Myrtie Benton DeWitt. He served his country in the United States Army and was a retired carpenter. Known as "Hammerhead" to everyone, he enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and was an excellent mechanic. He attended Coosawhatchie Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, grandfather, brother and uncle and dearly loved his family.

Surviving are: his wife, Dorothy Sauls; stepchildren, Dorothy Mae Diaz, Mary Sauls, April Sauls, Janie Sauls, James Sauls and Pete Sauls; sister, Lillie Byrd; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews including Chuck Hayes, Jackie Gardner, Debbie Bennett, Jack Wolfe, Audrey Gardner and Noah Gardner. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nellie Hudson, Pearl DeWitt, Hearl DeWitt, Mearl DeWitt, and JW DeWitt.

A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Saturday morning, July 1, 2023, at our Walterboro Chapel.
