At the July 25, 2023 Colleton County Council meeting the Council declared by proclamation July 29-August 5 Gullah-Geechee Nation Appreciation Week. Queen Quet Marquetta L. Goodwine was present to accept the proclamation on behalf of the Gullah-Geechee community. Queen Quet thanked the council and expressed a desire for close relationship between the Gullah Geechee Nation and Colleton County.
