COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Today, U.S. Congressman James E. Clyburn (SC-06) released the following statement:
“I am humbled and honored to continue serving the people of South Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. My thanks to the voters of SC-06 for their continuing support of my efforts to make America’s greatness accessible and affordable for all.
“As your Congressman, I will continue fighting for healthcare and education that is accessible, housing and energy that is affordable, provide representation that is accountable, connect every home and business to fast, affordable broadband; protect Social Security and Medicare for our Seniors, and so much more.
“This has been the most consequential election in this country in over 150 years, and today, voters were decisive and forceful in fighting against the forces of retrogression. Voters across America have chosen to put a check on the President and his corrupt administration. They have chosen Democrats to lead in the House and Senate Majority because we will be relentless in our fight to lower costs, expand opportunities, and give every American a fighting chance at the American dream.
“This is a historic moment for our nation. My friend and Leader of the House Democratic Caucus, Hakeem Jeffries, is poised to make history as the first Black Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. It will be an appropriate recognition of the steadfast leadership he has provided our Caucus during the 119th Congress and a testament to our nation’s continued march toward “a more perfect Union.”
