Kevin Guskiewicz has been named the 16th president of Clemson University following a national search. Guskiewicz brings with him a wealth of experience in education and administration. He is also a renowned neuroscientist with a focus on sport-related concussions. His research has impacted concussion protocols in the NFL and NCAA. Additionally, he has served as Chancellor at the University of North Carolina and President Michigan State University. Guskiewicz holds a Bachelor Degree in Athletic Training, a Master Degree in Exercise Physiology/Athletic Training, and a Doctorate in Sports Medicine.

Personally, Guskiewicz hails from Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and he and his wife Amy have four children Jacob, Nathan, Adam, and Tessa.

In a statement given by Guskiewicz’s introductory comments he shared:

“Clemson has the opportunity to become an even more influential national and global leader in research, innovation, student success and public service while remaining deeply committed to the University’s core values and traditions.”

“Clemson has an opportunity to further elevate its research enterprise and national profile. And I know there’s an eagerness to do this alongside world-class faculty and researchers, and we’ll hit the ground running right away with that. The future belongs to institutions that can bring together expertise across engineering, health sciences, business, education, agriculture, computing, the humanities and the arts to drive innovation and discovery. Clemson is uniquely positioned to lead in that environment in the fastest-growing state in the nation. As a modern land-grant university, Clemson must serve not only students on campus, but also the broader communities and economies that depend on them. Clemson’s impact across South Carolina through research, extension, workforce, workforce development and public engagement is a shared responsibility, and I look forward to strengthening those partnerships across every region of the state.”
