ROUND O:     Gladys Fisk Benton passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024 under hospice care, with her family by her side.  She was 86. Gladys was born in Colleton County August 13, 1937 a daughter of the late Bennie Joe Fisk and George Ann Thomas Fisk.  She worked at Sims Toggery in Walterboro for thirty-three years, before eventually retiring from Smoaks Manufacturing.  She was a lifelong member of Bedon Baptist Church, where she was active on various committees and the WMU.  Gladys was a well-known…and well-loved…member of the Round O community, and one of her favorite pastimes was playing BINGO at the Elk’s Lodge on Tuesday evenings.   She is survived by her sons Tom Benton (Gayle) and Bert Benton (Rhonda), and by four grandchildren:  Jessica Altman (Kris), Jami Lloyd (Jeff), Clint Benton (Blue), and Lindsey Benton (Caleb).  There are seven great-grandchildren:  Hazel Ann Benton, Bradley Drawdy, Caroline Altman, and Reese, Kalee, Daniel and Dawson Steedley.  Gladys leaves behind her sister-in-law Mary Wallace Fisk, her beloved niece Robin Fisk Craven (Bobby), and her great-niece that she thought of as a granddaughter, Cassie Craven.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother David Franklin Fisk.   Funeral services will be held Friday morning, May 10, 2024 at 11:00 at Bedon Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 9, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bedon Baptist Church Family Life Center Fund.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
