Basketball teams have rough week

Colleton County High School (CCHS) and Colleton Prep Academy (CPA) Basketball teams had a rough week in terms of wins and losses. The two teams combined to play six games after Christmas break failing to win any games. The two teams combine record was zero wins and six losses.

Colleton Prep lost against Orangeburg Prep 72-48 in a tournament game played at CPA. The Hawks trailed at half-time 39-29 and 52-39 at the end of the third quarter. Orangeburg outscored the Hawks 20-9 in the fourth quarter for the final margin of victory.

Hawks dropped a 57-33 game to Thomas Heyward. With these two losses, the Hawks record dropped to 0-10.

Lady Hawks dropped a 56-40 decision to Beaufort Academy in their tournament game. Beaufort led at half-time 29-15 before the War Hawks cut the lead to seven 40-33 to begin the fourth quarter. Beaufort outscored the lady Hawks 16-7 in the fourth quarter to secure the 16-point win. Lady Hawks record now stands at 2-4.

Colleton County Cougars boys’ basketball team participated in a tournament in North Charleston. Cougars dropped a 63-45 decision to Porter Gaud in the first round of the tournament. Cougars were overwhelmed by Catholic High School from Virginia Beach 82-30 in the final game of the tournament.

Cougars returned home to play First Baptist on Friday, Dec. 30 only to fall 83-60. Cougars record now stands at 6-7 for the season.
