Get to know #yourColletonFirefighter Brent Dalton on #firefighterfriday. Battalion Chief Dalton is the “B” shift supervisor, a position he has held since 2009. Here is more information on Battalion Chief Dalton:

Brent entered the fire service as a volunteer firefighter for Sumter County Dazell Station 6 in 1992. He was motivated to join the fire department by his high school friend who was a volunteer. In October 1993, he enlisted with the United States Air Force with ambitions of being an Air Force Firefighter; unfortunately Uncle Sam had other plans. He spent the next four and a half years as a Logistics Technician in Alamogordo, New Mexico. In February 1998, he transitioned to the Air National Guard in New Hampshire, and enrolled in college. While in college, he signed up to be an on call firefighter for North Hampton Fire Rescue. After successfully obtaining his Fire Science Degree, he joined Exeter Fire & Rescue as a full time firefighter. Growing tired of the snow and cold, Brent wanted to relocate for warmer weather; in 2006, he relocated to Colleton County after accepting a firefighter/paramedic position with Colleton County Fire-Rescue. He says what he likes most about his job is “being able to help the residents and visitors in the county during their time of need.” In addition to his normal supervisory duties, Chief Dalton also heads up Fire-Rescue’s Dive Program. He is an avid scuba diver and holds many certifications, including Dive Master and Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

During his time off, he enjoys scuba diving, boating, fishing, and most importantly spending time with his family.
