Get to know #yourColletonFirefighter Ashley Ackerman on #firefighterfriday. Firefighter/EMT Ashley Ackerman joined Colleton County Fire-Rescue in 2006, and is assigned to the Station 7 Platoon on ‘B” Shift. Here is more on Firefighter/EMT Ackerman:

Ashley joined Fire-Rescue’s Explorer Program in 2006. In 2015, he was offered a position on “D” shift serving the Greenpond community. He worked on “D” shift for one year before deciding to take a short break from Colleton to explore neighboring departments. Ashley decided to return home in 2017; he was hired on “D” shift serving the Jonesville community. Ashley transitioned to a 24/48 position when Medic 7 (Smoaks) was placed in service. Prior to joining as a full time firefighter, Ashley worked for his uncle’s landscaping business. At an early age, Ashley knew he wanted to be a firefighter; he enjoyed seeing the fire trucks in the parades and always looked forward to the firefighters visiting his school to teach about fire prevention.

When Ashley is not working, he enjoys attending Shriner events, getting out on the water, and spending time with his family and his girlfriend, Sara.
