A Cottageville woman has been displaced following a fire in her mobile home that occurred on Friday, May 13th. The house was located at 31 Gaines Circle, just north of Cottageville.
Fire crews were called to the scene when a passerby noticed flames coming from the middle of the house. Firefighters were on the scene for four hours performing overhaul.
“The cause of the fire appears to have been electrical in nature and started in the center of the mobile home,” said Colleton County Fire-Rescue Chief Barry McRoy. “The building suffered substantial damage.”
No one was at home when the fire occurred. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
