What Do We do With Jesus After Christmas?

Posted

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:1-2

While most nativity scenes include the Wisemen, it is likely that the Magi visited Jesus’ family when He was around two years old. Christmas had come and gone, yet these Wisemen felt compelled to find this promised Child. While the Holidays may bring the idea of Jesus to mind, Jesus as the Son of God is a reality we must all accept or reject. Jesus is not confined to Christmas or Easter. Jesus, His biblical claims of divinity, His death on the cross, and His resurrection confront us and require us to make a decision. What will you do with Jesus? Will you believe, or will you reject Jesus? There is no halfway decision between these two alternatives.

The Magi recognized that this Child demanded their response. The first thing they did was they determined to travel to the Child. The Wisemen decided that Jesus was worth their effort. Many of us need to decide that Jesus is worth our effort. Secondly, the Magi sought Jesus for the purpose of worshipping Him.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity to consider Jesus Christ. Help us to see Him as He is: the Son of God sent to save us. Help us to give Jesus our best efforts to follow, serve, and obey Him. Lead us to worship Jesus in the way He deserves to be worshipped. Please help us to give Jesus our whole-heart every day of our lives. We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
