UPDATE - 3/24/2020: With the increased number of visitors and decreased staff sizes due to COVID-19, we have made the decision to close parks for day-use on Wednesday (3/25) and Thursday (3/26) of this week. Visitors with cabin and camping reservations will still be allowed to check in. These closures will help S.C. Parks staff recover from the additional workload that has been required and give SCPRT an opportunity to make decisions on how to operate parks while keeping employees safe. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through some operational issues due to these closings. EDISTO BEACH STATE PARK
Subject to update above: Edisto Beach State Park is open.
Due to restrictions put in place by the town of Edisto Beach, all incoming campers and cabin guests will need to be prepared to show their reservation confirmation at the designated checkpoint. Current guests will need to ensure that the proper vehicle hangtags displayed for re-entry to the park. For day visitors, there will be a limited number of passes available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please be sure to bring a copy of your reservation confirmation with you so that you will be allowed to enter the island at the designated checkpoint. Givhans and Colleton state parks are also open subject to above restrictions.
SCPRT are taking the recommended precautions from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control (SCDHEC) to maintain clean and sanitary indoor public spaces (restrooms, etc.) You should also be aware that our sanitizing and disinfection protocols DO NOT include high-touch outdoor surfaces like playgrounds or picnic tables.
Cabins and campgrounds are open. However, no new cabin or camping reservations will be accepted with arrival dates between now and May 7, 2020. Reservations already made between now and May 7 are being honored at this time. To minimize contact, visitors are encouraged to pay balances for cabins or campsites by calling the call center or calling the park office. If you have a reservation, please check your email for instructions on how to check in.
Restrooms in parks will be closed periodically for thorough cleaning and disinfecting.
If admission gates are not manned, please pay for admission using the iron rangers and envelopes provided. You may also use our online park store at www.SCParkStore.com to pay for admission directly from your phone.
Social Distancing: Park Staff and Visitors
Our staff takes pride in being customer friendly and approachable, but during these uncertain times, we must take precautions to protect their safety and well-being, as well as that of our park visitors.
Park staff and visitors will be encouraged to limit group size to 10 or less and to stay six feet apart and should avoid handshakes, hugs and other physical contact.
As visitation increases, we will be shutting park gates more frequently as carrying capacity dictates in order to allow for visitors and staff to maintain social distancing guidelines.
Park staff and visitors should follow the CDC guidelines for good handwashing and hygiene at all times.
Park staff and visitors who feel sick should not work or visit state parks.
