Walterboro USPS assists with fire

Posted

When starting her route Thursday, December 21, Walterboro USPS mail carrier Vickie Tripp probably did not expect to come upon a fire in someone’s front yard. Therefore, in addition to delivering the homeowner’s mail, she delivered a call to 911. A short video Tripp took showed black smoke billowing about the front yard of the property on Cromwell Lane that threatened the home. The video also captures a small explosion that took place as well. The fire was also threatening a neighbor’s home and property. The fire was contained to one vehicle and approximately one acre of land. Firefighters were able to save the residence, outbuildings, and several other vehicles. The fire was caused by outdoor burning that spread out of control.
