Walterboro Lions Club holds July meeting

The Walterboro Lions Club held its monthly meeting on July 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The meeting held at Dukes Bar B Que was called to order by Ray Colson with the ringing of the bell. The meeting began with the singing of “My County tis of Thee”, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the invocation.

This month’s meeting featured a Lions Club Scholarship recipient Alexandria Stephens. Ms. Stephen’s is a graduate of Colleton County High School class of 2024. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the South Carolina Dean’s List, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Student Senate. Stephens also recently went to Houston to participate in the first LEGO Robotics League World Festival where she was able to speak with other students from the United States and abroad. Ms. Stephens is also a member of the Walterboro chapter of the NAACP.

While attending CCHS she also participated in the dual-enrollment program offered in conjunction with University of South Carolina Salkehatchie. She graduated high school with a total of 62 college credits, an Associate Degree in Science and an Associate Degree of Arts, in addition to her high school diploma. Stephens intends to continue her academic career at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. Her goal is to earn a Bachelor’s Degree of Science, a Master’s and Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Science.
