Unregistered voters need to complete process

There are only a few days left for unregistered Colleton County residents to get registered to cast their ballots in the upcoming November general election.

Anyone who is not registered to vote has until Sunday, Oct. 9th to do so.

As of press deadline, there 25,363 people in Colleton County who are registered to vote. This includes all 32 precincts throughout the entire county.

Statewide, there are 3,365,465 people registered to vote in South Carolina, according to the S.C. Election Commission.

The November general election is filled with multiple seats that are going to be filled. It features multiple local, state and regional elections that impact Colleton County, including the at-large seat on Colleton County Council.

The ballot also has at least one referendum question, which will determine whether or not the current one-cent sales tax will continue in Colleton County for seven more years.

Anyone age 18 or older can vote in the United States.

Colleton residents who are already registered and who want to check their precinct locations or view a sample ballot can go to www.scvotes.org.

Anyone who is not registered to vote can begin the process by also going to www.scvotes.org. You can also visit the local Colleton County Elections Office at 2471 Jefferies Highway in Walterboro.

How to Register to Vote:

Download a voter registration form from scVOTES.gov. Complete and return the form to the Colleton County Office of Elections and Voter Registration Office, located at 2471 Jefferies Highway in Walterboro.

If you email or fax the form, it must be received no later than Oct. 9th.

If you mail the form, it must be postmarked by Tuesday, Oct. 11th.

Registering in person must be done no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7th at the Colleton County Office of Elections and Voter Registration Office.

If you have moved from one county to another, you must register in your new county by the deadline to be eligible to vote.
